The book of Acts in the New Testament is the story of the early church sent by the Risen Jesus Christ to extend His Kingdom, “in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Despite strong opposition, suffering, and sin inside the church, God advanced the Gospel in ways that astonished even His own followers.
We hope that Luke's account of the Acts of the Apostles shapes our imagination for extending God’s kingdom in our time and place. We hope to draw from the boldness of our Christian brothers and sisters in the past, to learn from their wisdom and mistakes, and to entrust ourselves more fully to the Risen Christ, who empowers us by His Spirit still to extend the transforming presence of His kingdom to the end of the earth.
