This prayer guide will lead us through the book of Isaiah alongside prayers in the Psalms. Isaiah is a deep dive into God’s mighty acts of judgment and grace in the history of Israel with promises that point to the coming Messiah. The Bible teacher Warren Wiersbe called Isaiah a “Bible in miniature” for its features that reflect the Bible as a whole. There are sixty-six chapters in Isaiah and sixty-six books in the Bible. The thirty-nine chapters of the first half of Isaiah may be compared to the thirty-nine books in the Old Testament with God’s righteous judgment of sin as a major theme in both. The twenty-seven chapters of the second half of Isaiah echo the twenty-seven books of the New Testament with the redemptive grace of God revealed.
