Sacraments

Baptism

Baptism is a sign of God’s steadfast love and a seal of His promise to redeem His people through Christ. At PCPC, we celebrate baptism as a joyful declaration that God calls us to Himself, washing away sin, and marking us as His own. Whether for a new believer or the child of believing parents, baptism proclaims that God’s mercy reaches across generations and invites us to walk in His covenant grace.

What is Baptism?

A Sign of God's Grace

Baptism is one of two sacraments given by Jesus Christ, alongside the Lord’s Supper. It is a holy ordinance that uses visible water to reveal invisible grace. It symbolizes both our cleansing from sin and our union with Christ in His death and resurrection. In baptism, God confirms His promises to believers and their children, and the church receives each person into the covenant family. This sacred act reminds us that salvation is by grace alone and that our hope rests entirely in Christ’s finished work.

Who Can Be Baptized

For Children and Adults

At PCPC, we baptize both believers and their children, trusting in God’s covenant promises. For infants and young children, baptism declares God’s faithfulness through generations and welcomes them into His visible Church. For adults and older children, baptism is a public profession of faith; a testimony of grace received through Jesus Christ.

In every baptism, we affirm the same truth: salvation belongs to the Lord, and He graciously gathers all who believe into His family.

Adults and older children who have come to faith—or wish to reaffirm their baptismal vows—may contact our staff for guidance and scheduling. We are honored to walk with you as you prepare for this profession of faith.

Growing In Faith

Living Out Your Baptism

Baptism marks the beginning of a lifelong journey with Christ. Each time we witness a baptism, we are reminded of our own—that God’s grace has claimed us, His Spirit renews us, and His promises endure. To “improve” our baptism, as the catechism teaches, is to live each day trusting in Christ’s mercy, turning from sin, and rejoicing in the assurance that we belong to Him forever.
