Embrace Grace

“I can’t believe how many doors have opened for me since I joined Embrace Grace! The Lord truly is answering so many of my prayers, and I can’t believe it!” Allison (name changed for privacy) began attending our Bible study for single pregnant moms last spring when she found out she was unexpectedly pregnant. When I first met Allison, she was reserved, quiet, and reluctant to share...yet she kept showing up! Over the course of the semester, she began sharing her questions about Christianity. Through time spent around the dinner table at Midweek, time spent in the Word, and babysitting while Allison napped, walls gradually came down.

This fall, Allison has returned to Embrace Grace with her baby in tow. She has been our biggest recruiter for Embrace Grace this fall and spread the word about our group to three other ladies. Because of Allison, each of these ladies was able to hear the gospel preached in word and deed every week. Allison is almost unrecognizable from the first time I met her, with a smile, confidence, and softness of heart. It’s amazing to see the Lord continuing to work in the lives of the women who attend this Bible study.

Embrace Grace, a 12-week support group for single, pregnant moms, started at Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCPC) in 2023 with two ladies in attendance. Now in the fall of 2025, we just finished our 4th semester with 10 ladies attending. Each Wednesday, we gather for dinner at Midweek, study the Bible, and pray with and for one another. Each of the moms who attend is coming from diverse backgrounds–some are believers, others are seeking or atheists. Some are on their own, while others have supportive families and partners. Some have a stable housing situation, others do not. Some have multiple children, and for others, this is their first pregnancy. The women who get involved typically find our group through pregnancy resource centers, word of mouth, or online. It takes such courage for them to show up on the first week at a huge church building, not knowing a soul. By the end of the 12 weeks, these ladies leave as friends, many of them staying to continue being a part of the group after their babies are born!

Of course, a ministry like Embrace Grace does not come without its challenges. How do we come alongside a woman facing homelessness? How do we support a woman coming out of sex trafficking? How do we help provide for the very real childcare needs presented when the mom needs to go back to work? How do we love a mom who is facing the guilt of having an abortion in her past? How do we get the women to attend the group when many of them do not have reliable transportation? Each of these questions reminds me that I cannot do this in my own strength. We truly need the Lord’s guidance and discernment when handling each unique situation with care.

It’s been beautiful to see the body of Christ at PCPC come alongside each of these ladies and serve the ministry of Embrace Grace. From the ladies in the nursery who watch the children while we study the Bible, to the members who donate to the baby shower at the end of the semester, to the women who faithfully share the gospel in the Bible study, it truly takes a village to pull off something like Embrace Grace each week. It’s been a joy to see PCPC be the hands and feet of Jesus to families all over the city of Dallas.

If someone you know is experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, we would love to invite them to Embrace Grace. Interested in getting involved? We are looking for individuals to host baby showers for moms-to-be and to cover this ministry in prayer.
